Here’s Larry Lessig’s TEDTalk on laws that choke creativity. Not only is his talk funny and a bit snarky in a good way, but he’s a champion of ‘recreativity’ who believes that artist choice (e.g., Creative Commons) and the acceptance of read-write culture by businesses are the key to reviving our creative culture. His presentation is also perfectly timed, well delivered, and features a great mix of images and videos, including my video Jesus Will Survive – Jesus Christ! The Musical

STORYBOARD
POLICE CAR MIRROR COMPOSITE
On this shot I added a police car to the rear view mirror of my car. I used stock footage of a police car with the led lights on and a photograph to create the illusion.
Shot on a Canon 7D.
Software used for this shot:
Sony Vegas Pro 9
Adobe After Effects CS4
Adobe Photoshop CS4
POLICE CAR COMPOSITE #1
Because the police car was on another location plus the engine didn’t start, I had to find a way to put that police car behind the other car. This is an animation of how this shot was achieved. I also changed the background and added the Los Angeles city landscape since the actual landscape was covered with smoke and further away.
POLICE CAR COMPOSITE #2
Another example of how I was able to bring the police car from another location to the shot. The car was non-operable and the led lights didn’t work. I took the led lights from a police car toy and superimposed it over the actual police car. As you can see I had a very small green screen that did not covered the whole actor, hence I had to rotoscope it frame by frame on After Effects.
VIRTUAL DOLLY SHOT
If you see carefully the finalized shot includes a slow dolly camera move towards the right. This movement was done in post-production. I also added a stock footage of a police car and a photograph of a motorcycle, as well as the license plate was changed to read “doritos”.
